Hiragana

Four lessons take you from zero hiragana to reading every kana — all 46 base characters, the 25 voiced (dakuten/handakuten) variants, and 33 yōon combinations. Each lesson runs about 15-20 minutes. Audio is provided for every kana via your ElevenLabs ja-JP voice.

The order is structural, not arbitrary. Lesson 1 teaches the five vowels — every other row is built on them. Lessons 2 and 3 finish the base set in two passes. Lesson 4 layers on the variants and ends with a reading drill on real Japanese words. Pack 2 (katakana, coming next) reuses everything you learn here.

Audio note: The hear-it buttons rely on MP3 files generated from your ElevenLabs ja-JP voice. If you haven't run scripts/generate-audio.mjs yet, the buttons will silently fail — the lessons still work without audio, you just lose the pronunciation reference.
